Trapezoidal thread forms are the most common forms used for lead screws (power screws). They offer high strength and ease of manufacture. They are typically found where large loads are required, such as in a vice or the lead screw of a lathe. The trapezoidal metric thread form is similar to the Acme thread form, except the thread angle is 30°.
Our range of Tradezoidal single point threading inserts for lathe screw cutting is compatible with all major threading tool holders (with the exception of Sandvik). Korloy threading inserts are stocked as standard in grade PC3030T, suitable for general machining on steel, stainless and cast iron. We can also offer Vardex threading inserts from Vargus for more demanding applications (e.g. performance threading of stainless steel, titanium or aluminium).
