Since the inception of their business in 1948, Bison products have been known for their high quality, strength and precision. After 71 years they remain a leading manufacturer of equipment for machine tools with a well-established brand reputation worldwide.

Who are Bison?

Today, Bison is known worldwide as one of the world leaders in providing high quality clamping technology solutions. Bison began by supplying both bench and machine vices, then in 1950 they extended their product range to include lathe chucks. Over time, Bison extended their ranges further to include Power Chucks, VDI Toolholders, Spindle Tooling and more. In this time, Bison’s name became synonymous with high quality, durable and precise machine tool accessories.

From the foundry to the final assembly room, quality control plays a large role in Bison’s production processes. Being ISO 9001 certified since 1997, Their motto of ‘quality first’ is evident from the long life of their products in customer’s machines. Bison not only meets industry standards but significantly beats them.

In Q4 2014, a huge €40 Million investment and company restructuring prompted Bison to build a brand-new purpose-built facility. This 53,000 sqm factory incorporates a new hi-tech cast iron foundry together with the most modern heat treatment facility in Europe. The Machine Shop is also equipped with state of the art 5-axis and CNC machining centres capable of machining work pieces up to 3200mm in diameter.

Why use Bison tooling?

Employees at Bison use their extensive knowledge and experience to ensure excellence in each of the products. Their dedication and integrated manufacturing process allow for close monitoring of product quality.

Bison take great pride in the fact that their company standards establish much stricter requirements than those provided in the DIN norms. Regardless of size, their standard and precision chucks easily exceed the required parameters of the respective standards.

Where other brands would finish their inspection, Bison only just begin to achieve extraordinary accuracy.

What do Bison supply?

Bison’s product range comprises more than 20.000 products. Cutwel supplies a variety of Bison’s products including:

Manual Self-Centering and Independent Lathe Chucks

Bison is renowned for manufacturing high quality lathe chucks to meet the highest requirements of their customers. Their chucks are made from high quality forged steel or cast iron. Hardened and ground work surfaces provide the chucks with superior strength and extended lifetime.

Power Chucks

Bison’s Power Chucks are made from high quality forged alloy steel. They have a large load capacity, durability and high clamping accuracy and repeatability. Like their Lathe Chucks, Bison’s Power Chucks are finely ground on the work surfaces and hardened to HRc60.

Precision Machine and Bench Vices

Bison manufactures an extensive range of both machine and bench vices which are user friendly and cost effective. Machine vices are made of high-grade alloy steel, are hardened and stabilized, and have moveable jaws.

Spindle tooling

When performing precision work at a high quality and level, it is imperative that you protect your tooling by holding it in a secure and balanced holder. Bison’s spindle tooling includes lathe collets (5C/185E types), Morse Taper adapters and reduction sleeves.

Revolving Centres

Bison’s range includes standard, slimline and heavy-duty live centres. All of which are case hardened and ground with a high runout accuracy and concentricity. The service life of the live centre bearings is up to 2,000 operating hours.

Also included in the range are bull nose centres for hollow tubes or pipes and dead centres.
