Cutwel Visits Leeds UTC for Tooling Donation

Tool donation to Leeds UTC, enhancing engineering education

We recently visited and made a significant contribution to Leeds UTC (University Technical College) through a generous tooling donation. The donation, valued at over £4,000, included a range of precision tools such as milling cutters, measuring instruments, turning inserts, thread mills and other cutting tools for various applications. These tools are crucial for the college to provide to students so they can gain hands-on experience and practical skills within the engineering sector.

Helping to develop manufacturing skills

On campus, Leeds UTC has a wide range of both milling machines and lathes (in manual and CNC types) that the students are able to use to develop their knowledge and skills within manufacturing. The donated tools will help develop the students' ability to work with different kinds of tools on a wide range of applications, thus simulating the conditions and challenges they may face in their future careers.

Supporting future engineers

Leeds UTC, renowned for its commitment to technical excellence, hosts around 500 students, with approximately 40% of them successfully moving into apprenticeships at the end of their studies. At the college, students are able to learn a diverse array of subjects, including metalworking, mechanical, robotics, electronics, and computer-aided design. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are well-prepared for both apprenticeships and careers within various industries, armed with the theory and practical experience to allow them to flourish.

Cutwel is excited about the opportunity to deepen its relationship with Leeds UTC and support its educational initiatives. We look forward to working more closely with Leeds UTC and other educational institutions to provide further support and contribute to the development of future engineers.
