What are Pull Studs?

Pull studs, also commonly referred to as retention knobs, are used to precisesly position and safely lock the toolholder in the machine spindle. This is achieved by linking the machine drawbar and the toolholder together.

What types of Pull Stud are available?

There are hundreds of different variations of pull stud available on the market. Generally categorised into the make of machine or type of spindle your machine has. Some popular examples include BT MAS, DIN69871, R8 (Bridgeport), MAZAK and ISO pull studs.

Pull studs also come with different features and characteristics such as the angle, length, through coolant type and whether they are supplied with or without o-ring seals.


What pull stud do you need?

With all the different machine makes and spindles around, combined with all the different characteristics of pull stud available it can be extremely difficult to identify which pull stud you actually need.
